Dr. Mohammed Khalil Younis Alabbasi, lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Zakho Science has been admitted as an invited researcher at the University of La Rochelle in France for three months between September and December, 2015. The training was held under the supervision of Professor Karim Allaf, Head of the Research and Transfer Team of Intensification of Industrial Eco-Processes in the Laboratory of Engineering Science for Environment LaSIE (UMR-CNRS 7356; University of La Rochelle, France).
Dr. Mohammed conducted the research work aiming at defining and optimizing the processes of extraction of volatiles using the technology of "Instant controlled pressure drop") DIC. Such hydrothermo-mechanical treatment has to be optimized in order to intensify the process coupling chemical preservation and texturing cell-wall destruction. This research work has specific interests for numerous Iraqi food industries; it should enrich the collaboration between both countries.
The envisages of Dr. Mohammeds were realizing some part of his research works in close collaboration with other Iraqi colleagues, especially while measuring the properly said chromatography analysis and micro-nutriment contents. Once this experimental laboratory-scale study is performed, the development of large industrial applications shall be possible. The works of Dr. Mohammeds at the laboratories of the University of La Rochelle will facilitate to enlarge the collaboration towards the new universities in the Kurdistan region.
